    How do I care for my Oceanweed gear?

    To ensure your Oceanweed clothing lasts as long as possible, please follow the following instructions.

    Washing instructions

    • Always turn your garment inside out.
    • Hand or machine wash in cold water.
    • Use only standard detergent.
    • Use gentle wash settings.
    • Do not wash with a heavy or fully loaded machine. We recommend you wash your clothing individually or with a light load.

    Ironing instructions

    • Ironing directly over any decorated area is not recommended as it will damage the print.
    • To iron the garment, please first turn it inside out.
    • Use a cotton cloth over the print while ironing if necessary. Ensure the iron temperature isn't too hot as this could cause the cloth to stick to the print.
    • Do not dry clean.

    Caution: do not use the following

    • Hot water
    • Concentrate detergent
    • Bleach products

    Where is your clothing sourced? Is it ethical?

    Our clothing is sourced from Bangladesh and China by a supplier who hand-picks production facilities which have safe, fair, legal and humane working conditions.

    This supplier takes a number of steps to ensure clothing production is fair and ethical, including:

    • establishing a clear Code of Conduct and expecting every factory to comply with the Code;
    • being very selective in the selection of partner factories;
    • making regular factory visits to assess Code of Conduct compliance and working conditions;
    • partnering with factories where the supplier is the primary source of business for the factory, so that the supplier can better influence ethical production;
    • joining the Amfori BSCI initiative, a supply chain management system that supports companies to drive social compliance and improvements within the factories and farms in their global supply chains;
    • expecting transparency of production from factories and taking a zero-tolerance approach to sub-contracting;
    • rewarding factories which show the highest engagement; and,
    • dropping ties with factories which do not meet the ethical standards set by the supplier

    Screen printing is then performed in Australia before the final products are shipped to Tasmania.
